Updated Instrument Response for Trillium_120, Trillium_240 (2 Generations) and Taurus

Instrument Response files released from Nanometrics for Trillium 120 and Trillium 240 sensors have been evaluated and updated for Antelope, where they are used to generate dataless and RESP files.

What is new:

  1. Instrument Response for Trillium 240; Chapter 10 of the Trillium 240 User guide specifies different instrument responses for Trillium 240s  in two categories:

    1. Serial numbers 0-399;

    2. Serial numbers 400 and higher.

  2. Instrument Response for Trillium 120; Chapter 10 of the Trillium 120 User guide specifies modified instrument responses.

Some of our users have Nanometrics equipment in their own pool, so we have updated the files needed in Antelope to generate the proper dataless and RESP files. You may download these files, and use them for updating instrument responses in Antelope.

There are a few files to replace the Taurus instrument response and the filters used for 50sps, since a few inconsistencies were found on older files.

Where do these files go? if you are using the latest version of Antelope (5.0-64) the files should be replaced under the directories specified below. If you are using an older version of Antelope (4.10, 4.9,etc.) please use the proper paths for it ($ANTELOPE/data/responses and  $ANTELOPE/data/instruments/).

The files without any *.pf extension should be copied under the directory

$ANTELOPE/data/responses

These include the following filter files, which were modified by Nanometrics:

trident_50sps_fir1
trident_50sps_fir2
trident_50sps_fir3

New response files also need to be copied:

trillium_120       - new instrument response;

trillium_240_1     - for Trillium 240 serial numbers 0-399;
trillium_240_2    - For Trillium 240 serial numbers 400 and higher;

taurus_std_aa    - for the Taurus digitizer.

Files with the *.pf extension need to be copied as follows:

Copy the file taurus_std.pf to the directory $ANTELOPE/data/instruments/dataloggers;
Copy the files trillium_*.pf to the directory $ANTELOPE/data/instruments/sensors

Please contact Pnina Miller (sensor group) if you have any questions.

Example of Probability Density Functions with old and new responses for a station with Taurus/Trillium_120 recording at 50 Hz

Probability Density Function of a station with old (incorrect) station instrument response using a Trillium_120 with a Taurus and recording at 50 Hz Probability Density Function of a station with new (correct) station instrument response using a Trillium_120 with a Taurus and recording at 50 Hz
