Your Question:
We seem to see opposite polarities on L4 and L22 seismometers. What are the polarities supposed to be for the various seismometer types?
Category:
Instrumentation
Vertical - positive voltage is downward ground motion (exploration seismology convention)
N/S - positive voltage is Northward ground motion (assuming correct orientation of the seismometer)
E/W - positive voltage is Eastward ground motion (")
Check out further details on our webpage for L-22 seismometers.
